Nevada · Roof Damage Claims

The roof is one system. The claim should connect every affected area.

A roof loss can involve the covering, flashing, vents, drainage, decking, attached features, and rooms below. M&T helps policyholders document how the pieces fit together.

Understand the loss

The facts and the damage path matter.

Document the roof as a system and connect exterior damage to every affected interior area.

The source, timing, affected areas, and emergency-protection records help explain the facts without making coverage assumptions.

01

What may be affected

  • Building materials and finishes
  • Adjoining areas and concealed components
  • Contents, systems, and personal property
  • Temporary protective work
02

What to document

  • Wide and close photographs before cleanup or removal
  • Dates, conditions, and the damage path
  • Receipts, estimates, measurements, and communications
  • Removed materials and temporary protection

General information for policyholders. The policy, facts, and applicable evaluation control coverage and outcome.

Document the roof safely and in context

Do not walk a damaged, wet, steep, or unfamiliar roof. Ground-level photographs, interior observations, drone imagery where lawful, and qualified professional inspection can provide safer evidence.

  • Photograph each roof elevation and exterior side, not only the first visible issue.
  • Map interior symptoms to the rooms and roof areas above them.
  • Keep all temporary-protection photographs, contracts, and paid invoices.
  • Collect pre-loss inspection, maintenance, permit, warranty, and replacement records.
  • Request complete copies of carrier photographs, estimates, and technical reports.
  • Distinguish documented event damage from wear, maintenance, or unrelated conditions.

How M&T helps with a roof claim

We create an organized claim record that connects the roof system, the event, interior effects, and available professional evidence.

  1. Review the event and history
Gather the reported date, maintenance, permits, prior condition, and immediate protection records.
  2. Document the system
Organize safe exterior observations with attic, ceiling, wall, and contents evidence.
  3. Coordinate the scope
Connect affected components, access considerations, and qualified professional findings.
  4. Present supported facts
Submit an understandable claim file and communicate through the adjustment process.

Roof-claim questions

Do I need a roofing estimate before asking for help?

No. Existing estimates are useful, but M&T can begin by reviewing the loss information and available documents.

Does one damaged shingle mean the entire roof is covered?

Not automatically. Scope and coverage depend on the cause, condition, repair considerations, policy language, and supporting evidence.

What if the insurer says the roof damage is wear and tear?

Ask for the written basis and supporting inspection materials. Preserve prior-condition records and qualified findings that address the observed damage.

Can M&T inspect after emergency tarping?

Yes, but photographs before and during tarping are valuable. Keep the tarp contract, invoice, and documentation of what was covered.
